What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 253

My word.  The FIFTH anniversary of this ridiculous idea swings around at week number 260.  If you want to join in with the ATC swap, the details are HERE.  Seven weeks notice feel s like a long time doesn't it.  Yeah.  Mary Anne made hers at our Crop last weekend. Puts me in a mild panic I don't mind admitting.  Meanwhile, back in Juliaville, my desk is staying ordered...I am cutting counting and kitting for the Card Marathon that takes place this coming Saturday.  I know, you'll be delighted about this, because I'll shut up about it. Until the next one.

Yes, even I have to admit to a bit of shame..two empty mugs.  Well ya see, in the course of the day and for a change, someone simply made and brought me a drink.  Lovely..but I was too busy to think about giving up the other mug and getting it out of the way.  And if I'd made my own, of course, I'd have re-used the mug.  Logical slobishness, non?
My little individual photo printer is about the only clue as to my work really - I stick a photo of each card on the front of the supplies packet so that people know what to look for....here are the ones I've done - spent all day Tuesday doing them.

Only another day's worth to go I think.  But you see..on the day, I get to walk around and make tea and not do too much because the Marathonistas have to do all the card making. It's a good trade off!
So my desk has gone from riot to quiet - invite us round to your place for a look and some rummaging will you?  Put WOYWW in your post title and link here..we'd love that.

  1. Well my goodness! I was about to take a bite of my strawberry with nutella and happened to check, and here you are! I love the neat, ordered Juliaville almost as much as the creative madness and mess Juliaville. I think the card marathon sounds sooo fun! Wish I could be there. Hugs! Sandy Leigh

  5. Oh Mr. LInky just up and nabbed my link before I got the correct line entered. So #7 is an error. Sorry. But a clean desk. I love the green on the trees, we are still waiting for buds. Our flower season will be very short this year. So not buying much. As fast as the weeks fly by I best start with my ATC's..Happy WOYWW

I thought the two cups were because you had been so busy tidying up last weeks creative desk you needed two cups of tea to keep you going!

  21. Hi Julia! Lol I know what you mean about the work when you teach a class...I am getting organised for my class this Friday and I am in a mild panic to get all the bids and bobs and hand out done! But I do get there even if it is by the skin of my teeth lol! I always love checking out your desk and I used to have one of those little photo printers too, but I have moved about 3 times and it has been lost somewhere in the travels :-(. Happy WOYWW and have a great week!

  24. Your desk may be tidier than mine this week - both of them - but your iPad screen is definitely murkier ha ha. Must be the sunshine. Looks like a good few days here so more dog walking and a bit less crafting for me. Enjoy your marathon on Saturday.

  34. You did give me a start, such a clean desk, I thought something was wrong. The two mugs were the only thing that made me feel normal. You've been really busy and now you get to sit back and watch the others do the work, that's clever.
Hope it all goes well on the day.
    Have a great week,

  35. The organisational skills required for the Card Marathon, would be beyond me I think! In class everyone works on the same project at once and I can just about cope with that. Seven weeks eh? That means the woyww crop will be coming around very soon and my baby girl will turn 15. How this time flies.

  36. Your desk looks lovely sitting there in the sunshine. Gosh you've been busy with all those kits. Hope you enjoy the rest of the week.

  41. Hi Julia. That card marathon looks so much fun - even checked where Amesbury was in the hope I may be able to get there... but, no... too far, I'm afraid, especially as hubby isn't so well and couldn't be left for as long as this would all take. Oh well, another time, maybe..
Your desk looks so beautifully organised - wonderful - can I borrow your "tidy fairies" please??
Have a really great day on Saturday.

  49. Love the double mug - I am a rinse and use again gal (shh!)
Nice to see the iPad back on its deck chair and that is a lovely glass mat you have. Must remember to get mine out as it stands there in splendid isolation ready for "clean crafting" (doh) when it cleans beautifully.
Have a good marathon - and then some rest.

  50. Hi Julia - I had a go at WOYWW for the first time today ... but I might not have exactly followed the rules ... I've gone under my desk instead! How nice to be brought sustenance while you're kit-packing! I've often thought that the single thing that would improve my workroom would be one of those instant hot water boilers. But then ... I'd probably OD on tea!

    ReplyDelete
  51. That is a lot of work Julia! Bet it will be such a fun event. Glad you are done with all the kitting, and hope you have a blast! PS. I have been known to have more than one drink on my desk at a time too. I just get sidetracked and forget and bring myself a second one! Winnie #67

  53. Two mugs! Yesterday I took 2 cups and 3 dishes out of my craftroom. Madison and I have started having an afternoon snack in the craftoom everyday and we're bad about taking our dishes back to the kitchen when we're finished. Other than the mugs, I can't remember ever seeing your desk so tidy! Have a great day. #74

  54. Nice! I must remember to show this to Andrew as proof that you do, occasionally, have a tidy desk! I like the idea of walking around and directing people instead of working, somehow I think you'd be very good at that, lol!!

ps looking forward to crop - hubby has already booked b and b!!! Way hey!!

  56. Hi! Cathy at #80 here. I had to laugh when I saw your two mugs. My computer desk, next to my art table, always has two cups of tea on it. Plus there will be one in my bedroom, my living room ....... you get the picture.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Well, it is tidy in Juliaville. Stacked mugs could never be considered messy, don't you know. I've managed to have a clean desk on a Wednesday, so I'm joining in again this week. I can't believe you've been cheering us on for 5 years - thanks for that.

    ReplyDelete
  58. My first thought, this can NOT be Miss Julia's desk. hehe. But you've been really busy. I wish I could be one of your marathonists. Sounds like such fun! Creative Blessings!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks for your nice comment, Julia - the knitting project is long overdue for finishing but it went into abeyance all last year because of all the busyness associated with our move. I'm enjoying taking it up again! As for the nappy liners, I can't remember where I first came across the idea but they are an excellent choice for mixed media as they are cheap and easy to obtain, and they melt beautifully while still remaining fairly soft, so you can add embroidery etc. I'm looking forward to experimenting further with them.

BTW I like to keep my "real" name anonymous online and much prefer Shoshi which is the Hebrew version of it. Thanks.

    Happy WOYWW,
    Shoshi

  60. So unusual to see your desk looking so clear Julia. I do exactly the same with cups but it's such a rarity for Alan to bring me a cuppa that it doesn't happen too often :) I hope the prep for the marathon continues to go well and that you have a super day. Hugs, Elizabeth xx #77

  64. Well at least you know where your tea mugs are. I find mine in the micro-wave when I least expect it! LOL

  68. Julia - thanks for your comments. I do understand you can't often comment, so really appreciate it when you go that extra mile on my behalf. Joining up with WOYWW has been such fun - I've made friends all over the world - so precious! Thanks for instigating all this, and for your perseverance in carrying on when you are so busy with everything else. Have a great day on Saturday.

  77. I'm a bit late joining in today. It's been hectic at home and in the office! Your desk is looking very tidy, Julia! Are you okay? :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. I admit that the desk was super tidy and organized for once. But what impresses me is the length to which you go to make sure people who take your classes have a good experience. So, you would never know you have a messy desk based on the way you organize for your workshops. That's super impressive.

I'm like you, and haven't even started my ATCs, but I'm not worrying, either, even though mine have a lot further to travel than yours do (grin).
